Spring Break '10

This past week has been spring break vacation for me which means NO SCHOOL and nothing but fun stuff day after day. There were parties, and bicycling, and ice-cream and bowling and movies, etcetera and etc. The best day was by far the day we drove out toward Salem to Silver Falls. It was the most prettiest best weatherest day of the year so far. Just perfectly sunny with warm and cool air mixing around your skin making you feel better than you've ever felt.

This is on the way up. Quite a spread! Dad was pricing horse farms in his dream mind.

First things first: find your walking stick.

Next, open your eyes and open your mind to the beauty that can only be found in nature.

There are 10 different waterfalls in Silver Falls park, this is just one of them.

You get to walk behind the waterfalls too which is an angle seldom seen by the average waterfall enthusiast.

Gettin' misty!

Drawing near yet another gorgeous waterfall...

This is over a mile in. I did the whole hike with gusto and only got tired near the very end and still even then I kept on.

Taking breaks to breathe it all in or stop and have a pb&j and an apple make it all nice and easy.

Looking at the douglas fir from behind another glorious curtain of fresh mountain water...Oregon we love you!

It's a view that makes you really ponder the greater things in life and send wishes up to the gods.

Really one of the nicest way to spend an afternoon. We had such a great family day.

Take that Daytona Beach!

The Loop de Loop

Mamop came down for a nice long visit and we showed her all the neighborhoods of Portland she'd never seen before and she showed me how to tie my shoes which I've tried many times but have never completely done before.

It was a thrilling feeling to finally get that second loop through the first loop and pull it tight for the big bow. We all screamed with a grand sense of accomplishment.

Most of all it was great just to sit with Mamop in the sunshine, reading or shoe tying or talking or just feeling some peace.
She promises to come back soon and I am remembering this promise.

SPRUNG!

The first day of Spring here was 68 degrees and as beautiful as anything can be. Overnight these flowers appeared. It's really happening. I took the camera out and snapped some pictures of all the things blooming in the yard.

Happy springtime one and all! Happy long days and evenings that last and last! Happy end of Winter!

antjenna

My aunt-in-law-to-be is a traveling musician and she travelled right into my bedroom the other day. I woke up upstairs and she was sleeping in my bed. So cool. We got to have a family breakfast and a catch up sesh and then she ran off to get inside a van with four seats and five people. Great to see you, auntie! Keep blowin that horn all over this great nation!

(And I don't know why she tried to swallow my foot.)

Amazing Day

It was my dad's birthday and we gave him an amazing day all day long. He got to sleep in and have french toast and then do his usual undisturbed writing. It turned out to be a perfect Spring day even though its still winter, sunny and a warm 60 degrees, so we went up to Mt.Tabor, the park on top of Portland where you can see Mt.Hood, Mt.St.Helens and all of the city below. We had a hike and picnic and some frisbee and playgroundin. Later in the night, I got my favorite babysitter Gabe, and mom took dad out to his favorite restaurant and then to the fancy shmantsy Arlene Schnitzer concert hall to see the Oregon Symphony play Shubert, which is a house favorite around here. Boy, my dad really is all grown up now, wouldn't you say? Happy Birthday Daddy!
