Nana and Papa

So, yep, they are here, for a whole week and I tell you I couldn't be happier.

I have two more pals to play all my games with and show all my books to and dance all my dances for.

They live in the desert of California and I don't get to see them regularly so I am not taking a minute for granted.

Last night Mom and Dad went out to dinner and a movie and I got the house to myself with Nana and Papa and it was just like we were a little family all by ourselves.

I don't like to focus on the negative but I will tell you that I am already not wanting them to leave and wish that they lived 5 minutes away in their hotel forever.

Make the Deal!

I apologize for the poop and pee talk but I absolutely cannot help it. For some reason nothing makes me happier than to say those words. My parents have tried to make me stop but it's no use. This is just the way it has to be right now.

Fall Has Fallen

and it is beauteous...loverly...gorgenous...you've got to make up words to express yourself about it all.

I don't mean to go on and on about the colors and the beauty when some of our friends see no colors only grey smoke haze. Can't see the smog for the smoke. The canary in the coal mine has died...run!!!

(I also continue to make up words to express my thoughts even for things not nature...this weeks new words: DUDEBUCKET and BUTTNESS.)

Aunt Salami

Solana came through town again (remember, she is the one who lives on the bus!) and she got a whole day off from her traveling band so she spent it with us. We made puzzles together by the fire. She's very good at puzzles, I like that in a person. And we had food and drink and talked about life and stuff. She is going to move to Portugal in a few months which interests my parents very much. They do love Portland but it doesn't stop them from always thinking about other faraway cities to have year-long adventures in. Why not? is the question they ask. Does anyone know the answer to this???

see u soon salami!

Knockin Em Down

My very first ever bowling experience. For starters, look at these shoes! Everyone got a pair!

This was my ball. Lucky Orangey.

Daddy showed me how to do it. It was exhilarating watching that ball roll all the way down...slowly...slowly.

And then crash into the pins like a maniac! If I tried this at home you know I'd get a time out for like life.

I did real good for my very first time doing bowling. Dad did so so. Uncle the Chief did good, he LOVES bowling. But, hard as it was on the guys, Mama beat us all.

Who says you can't take the skinheads bowling?

Good-bye my sweet Uncle. Call me when you see this so we can i-chat. I've got stuff to tell you. Stay close in my life...I love you! I wish you were here so I could see you!

put another nickel in

This is the nickel arcade by our house where we took Uncle the Chief for more fun. Every game costs a nickel and there's also a movie theater where the parents can drink beer if they want. Portland!

There are a kajillion games, super cool ones, like this one Mama and I played where we shot at sharks and slippery water snakes.

And Chief and I shot at a bunch of other stuff. You wouldn't believe how good he is at shooting!

I don't know many better feelings than walking in the door of the Avalon arcade with a bag full of nickels. I am a capitalist!

don't go chasin waterfalls

We took Uncle the Chief to see some of Portland's most beautiful spots.

We submerged him in nature until all of his city dramas were washed clean and clear.

The deWitt family has felt this cleanliness and clarity for some time.

You have to go deep into the darkness sometimes to find it.

But it's there if you want it.

UNBELIEVABLE

...and yet we did believe. Every day we believed. And now it's here. A New Day.

When the news was coming down we went driving around, to feel the news coming down. We drove past the HQ and the people were jumping and blowing horns and people were honking and yelling. I will remember this night, Election Night, because it was so special out there in the dark and in the rain.

And then when Mr. McCain said those words, "the next president of the United States...", my parents hugged and sighed and they opened the front door to hear firecrackers and honking and yelling and whistling from all over the streets of our neighborhood. And then the church bells started ringing and it was so beautiful and so magical and spiritual that the tears had to come. It was emotional! We've held on to this emotion for so long, too afraid to let it out, to worried we'd be hurt again...but now we are LETTING IT OUT!! Mama ran down to HQ and cheered and danced with all the white and black men and ladies she's been volunteering with down there. People were losing their minds. We're gonna party today folks!!!

I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!

you know what you got to do...go do it people...I've got a good 80 years left on this planet so make it right for me...please!!!

Mama dropping in her ballot. (Poor dad can't vote because he's a silly Canadian...he tried! He feels it! He's given his emotional vote! O-BA-MA! I love your song Obama! Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I AM yours!

may the forth be with you

In my days out as Darth Vader (3 days in a row I wore my costume) I met many a friend and foe from my Star Wars world.

We were invited to a giant Halloween costume party at the Wieden & Kennedy where our friend Shayla works and I guess it's this real great place to work...hello, pony rides!

My parents say that I had the morphing hybrid Star Wars costume of Darth with helmet on and Luke with helmet off.

And they had a mile-long yellow snake that you could touch if you were brave and everyone knows how brave Darth Vader is.

Lizard on a tortoise. Hello!

And this was a guy dressed up as the easter bunny and that is a real little baby only two weeks old dressed up as Charlie Brown sitting on him. I didn't know people came so small!

And this is the deck where you can see all of Portland if you work here. My mom is wondering if she maybe might want to work here.

Thank you Shayla for inviting us and showing me where all the bags of candy were. You're tops!!!

TREATS!!!

I don't know where there were any tricks but I have so many treats at home I don't know what to do with myself, except stare at the pile and wiggle in my pajamas.

Darth and The Pirate. Gus and Stewart.

Some of you may recognize Nadine's cute little chicken costume...it was mine, year one.

Uncle The Chief came up to visit us for Halloween, which is his tradtion now. He is the BEST the BEST! He carved our pumpkin and held my hand and made me feel like I have better uncles than any guy in this world.

We had SOOO much fun trick or treatin around our neighborhood. There were amazing spooky decorations and very impressive pumpkin carvings. Everyone is so nice here even when they are trying to be scary.

Stewart and I could never seem to get the Halloween language right...first you say trick or treat, then you say thank you, then you scream Happy Halloween as your running down the street to the next house. We'd forget every time and just stand there in total silence when the people opened their doors.

Danny and Amy. Neighbors extraordinaire. We are so close it is almost like we have on big family in two small houses.

Uncle Rene went as someone half his size.

Hope you all had as excellent a Halloween as I did! Safe and sane! BOOOOOOO!!!
