Day 2

The next day in LA we went visiting more of our friends. This is Sarah Cake and her handsome boyfriend Elijah and their roommate Jasmine and their doggie Pierre. I went through their record collection to see what they're all about. Turns out they're pretty cool.

My Big Date

My first order of business in Los Angeles was to visit an old flame Ruby. She was as cute as I remembered. I went to her house and we ate fruit and played with her toys while our moms talked about being moms and doing stuff with their lives. Then later we had a date at the park where we really let our guard down. She hugged me, I kissed her and we had a long serious talk by the fence about our future. Its going to have to be a long distance relationship but we're both pretty sure our love will prevail. Keep me in your heart Ruby!

Trippin.....

We packed up our bags and went to Los Angeles. That's where I've been all week, that's why I didn't write. We were on the party train and boy am I beat. I came home a crazy person. The last night there I woke up in the middle of the night and wouldn't sleep, just kept saying "keys" and "car" and "bye-bye" and pointing to the door. We finally made it back home, after the rental car, the two airplane rides , the broken stroller they gave us back that wouldn't roll, the losing of our luggage with all my stuff, and then the long ride back to the island...moaning and screaming all the way cuz I was so dog tired. But now I'm here, in my own bed, with my sweet Mamam and my toys and my tubby. So I will begin to tell you of all my adventures in California (tomorrow) because we saw so many friends and had so much so much fun.

Lets get this potty started right

This is my POTTY. Mama snuck it into my toys r us cart when I was busy going beserk. She thought we should have it around so I can get familiar with the concept of...well, you know. I have to say, I'm pretty comfortable with my current routine. When I have to go, I just go. Wherever I am, whenever I want. I really believe any other system pales in comparison. But I do make it pretty clear when I'm doing a doo (crouch down, balance on my tippy toes, hold my breath and fan my fingers under my nose while saying pew pew pew) so now when I begin that whole scene mom brings over the potty so I will associate. I am listening and I am learning and my mind is excited when it understands these new heavy doodie ideas.

Pull Ovah !!!

Mom and Dad took me to Toys R Us and got me this firetruck that I can push or sit on and push with my feet. It has 3 songs it plays about how you should get out of the way when you hear my siren and how not to be afraid if you're in an emergency because my firetruck is on its way. Dad was regretting this purchase before we even got home because he heard the songs 75 times in a row on the ride back. My dad wants me to give you this tip: Don't bring your child to Toys R Us. You will never get your child out of there. They have Gus-sized Escalades and Hummers that really drive around so by the time you get to the dinky firetruck everyone's a little disappointed. In the store there was the first time I was really mad at my dad, like for reals mad. He tried to pull me away from those big cars and I slapped him and tried to indian burn his arm and looked at him with seriously rageful eyes. It was something new for both of us, something both of us would like to forget.

wrestlemania

I am big into wrestling and attacking and fake falling down and general rough housing. Mama says I am in my fearless phase which both scares and impresses her. Here is where I pinned Grandpoop. Seconds later I flew backwards off the air mattress onto my skull. That my friends is the dark side of wrestling.

the eagle has landed

...in Poulsbo.

I went to visit the boys on the job site, they were putting on the siding around the windows, and a giant bald eagle flew over and landed in the tree where he lives. He was as big as me! I don't know if you can see in the tree below, about a half inch down on the right branch sticking out. Look for his white bald head!

The Daggs

Great Uncle Mikey is the brother of Mamam and his family is called The Daggs. They all came to visit us here, Isolda the mom and Ian and Erica the kids. Ian liked me right off and I decided he and I were bosom buddies so I sat next to him every chance I got and patted him on the back every 30 seconds so he wouldn't forget about us being bosom buddies. Erica made me mushrooms which I never had but really liked and still I shared them with others because like Daphne at the daycare says, I am an excellent sharer. Now they're all up in Canada seeing the great grandparent Daggs and its quiet here and I have to admit a little bit lonlier.

Fine Dining

Grandpoop came home this time with a brand new dining room table for Mamam's house. The men took it off the truck and put it together and we ate in high class style and then I put a pea up my nose.

saving the planet

I got a tree. Its a Chinese Lace-Bark Pine. Well! Me, my dad and Grandpoop planted it in the yard and I watered it for a long time to make sure it has lots of nourishment to grow big and tall like me. It is now called Gus' tree, right near Gus' Trail. I am trying to keep humble but its hard at times with everything named after me. So I'm going to keep giving back, to the EARTH.

The Ones Who Held Me When - Series 3

It seems my parents really liked to pass me around when I was a baby. I know my mama wishes she had some more arms to pass me to now. If I have to hear how heavy I am one more time...

This is Sara Toon, Toonces, and Elijah. They had come all the way from Portland to hold me. Now they live there in LA and we live here....which isn't right.

Baby C wouldn't care if I were 100 lbs, she'd still dance with me in her arms all day long. She is in Barcelona now making lisping sounds with her tongue and looking at brown boys.

And this is uncle Derek, the first and only time he held me, first and only time he held any baby, any child. My dad chased him around the house, shoving my little bundled body into his hands and Derek ran from him screaming No No, What if I drop it? But my dad sat him down and forced me into him and everyone took pictures of this rare and nervous sight.

The Ones Who Held Me When - Series 2

Back then all I could do was hang out in peoples arms. Drape me over an elbow, plop me on your lap, stick me in a laundry basket... Now it takes a little more creativity and a lot more strength to hold me for any span of time.
This is Nana and Papa and little baby me. My Napoles grandparents are very comfortable people.

And this was the first time I sat on Uncle Nick. He loved it. I was a little tense.

The Ones Who Held Me When - Series 1

Things are a little slow around the island these days, just the usual park-nap-truck-eat-sleep routine, so I thought I'd go back once again into the baby archives cuz it was interesting for all.

These here are some of the first people to ever hold me close... The first time Uncle Mike held me in his carefree thrill-seeking arms, his whole carefree thrill-seeking world changed. He looked deep into my peaceful baby eyes and his face understood IT ALL.
The first time Sage held me in his freckle muscles I pee peed a large wet circle onto his t-shirt. This is the moment of impact and warm realization. Soggy Saggy!

Motorbike!

Everyone got to ride on uncle Victor's motorcycle, except me. Dad took Mama for a ride hoping she would return saying that it was so fun that she thinks he should buy one for them, but she didn't return saying that. Dad took Nick for a ride to show him how the weird Victor machine worked with no left brake or second gear. At first Nick would not hold Dad's waist as you are supposed to when you ride on back and Dad said squeeze me tight little brother what are you afraid of? And then Victor and Avery came back from the doctor where she got crutches from tripping on one of my toys and breaking her littlest piggie, the one who goes wee wee wee all the way home, and they rode off with her foot cast and crutches and everything. All the big people were zooming here and there and I only got to sit on my little plastic tricycle with a dirty napkin in the basket.

long and lean

I am 35 inches long. Off the charts, says the doc. My fingers are long, my toes are long, my legs and my body are long. Mama says I will fulfill her dream of getting inside the NBA. If I keep guzzling milk like I do I will be even taller than my dad which will make him my best friend because he likes it when his boyfriends are taller than him.

TOIL

The deWitt men are building and building at the house in Poulsbo. There are many different sizes, shapes and colors of deWitt men. We went there to visit and bring sandwiches and mama explained to me how strange it is to see a full moon in the middle of the day.
Avery and I picked blackberries from the blackberry bush and Mamam will put them on little shortcakes with lemon curd and whipped cream.
The deck is almost finished and its going to look very fancy and beautiful and will add a lot of value to the house for sale. The more the men work the more there is to do and we must be patient and not ask too many questions over and over because when they come home sweaty and tired the last thing they want to do is answer the questions of the deWitt women.
