DA-DUNT DA-DUNT !!!

.

I...am....officially....POTTY TRAINED. Let's get this potty started right! You heard me. I pee in the toilet. I poop in the toilet. It's a done deal. And the "pot" of gold and the end of this rainbow is that I get to wear underwear, or as they are called in the deWitt family, my Da-Dunt Da-Dunts. No more bulky diapers upsetting the clean line of my tight jeans. Slim and sleek and hardly a leak...

The Great American House Hunt

It's finally here. The first official search for our new home in Portland. Mom and Dad took off for a spastic two-day non-stop house hunt. Rents were a bit higher than they were two years ago when they first started eyeing up the PDX area, but oh well. You got to do what you got to do. And we got to move on.

The Tacoma Narrows

It was a beautiful time to road trip. I stayed home with the good ole GP's and we had some beautiful times ourselves. Bobby took me to Port Townsend for the day and I had my first strawberry ice cream soda. Blast off! And the next day Mamop and I spend the whole day outside in the garden, watering and tending to all our pretty little things.

Pretty little things everywhere you look these days

My parents came home without a new house for us but with a giant stack of new books from Powell's. Reason enough to move to that city, they say. We have some leads on a few houses and they may have to go back again, and maybe again, until we have one signed sealed and delivered, but its really officially happening now and that is fresh and exciting.

And still, Mama and Dad always say, the best part of going away from me is coming home to me.

my best friend's back and yer gonna be in trouble

Himal came home from Nepal! He's back. My buddy, my pal, my road dog. It was pretty slow going here without him, let me tell you. I mean, the adults are great and all, when you're in the mood for adults, but nothing beats another 3 1/2 year old boy.

fresh air

I want to say sorry for the not so often blogs, but it is springtime here (sorta?) after so long and any minute of sunshine has got to be soaked up outside. It is so beautiful here, its hard to imagine unless you've seen it. It still is mind boggling for my parents that it can be sunny and warm AND the sky can still be blue and the trees and plants can still be green. No brown in the skies, no brown in the fields! Everything's blooming like mad. The purple poppies are just about to burst and we are watching them with great anticipation. Mamop spends eight hours a day watering. I run through the sprinklers and have to change my clothes three times a day. Soon it will be hot enough for me to frolic in just my birthday suit only! OOoga BOOga!!!

Finally Spring ???

As you know we have had a long cold winter that just won't give up. We did have one nice Spring day though and we took full advantage. And let me tell you that when the sun pops out here and it warms your wintery body it is a beautiful and perfect thing. It is not like the sun we knew in LA, it is a gentle warmth, not a blazing burning. Mama took some nature movies, these are all the views from her spot on the picnic blanket. If it seems a little slow and boring to you, well, then you get it.

(oh why can't youtube ever do justice to the color and definition that we see???)

My Mom's the BEST Mom!

I'm always talking and writing and posting, I never have a loss for any words, but today, the day to celebrate my mama, to try to explain to you all what she means to me...I can't seem to figure out how to put all that love and friendship and gratefulness into a few blog words. And its making me feel all emotional inside me! I need to make you understand, and I don't know how you ever could unless you know how it felt when she held you as a little ball of a baby or how it feels when she kisses your face or hugs you tight or tells you a story about Gussy Wuss and the goldfish pond or sings you a made up song about Jose the gardener or Gus who drives the bus or when you get out of school and there she is waiting for you and you run to her saying Mama! Mama! and you fly into her arms and she lets you knock her down to the ground all the way to Chinatown...

I love you, Mommy. I love you more than I am smart enough to write down here. You are all and everything.

Reading Is Fundamental

I love to read. It's a good thing because we're all just a bunch of lonely old bookworms out here. I just recently got a book called Bambi, maybe you heard of it, and I just can't stop looking it. It is about this evil thing called MAN who comes along and ruins every thing for Bambi and his friends. But nothing beats the Richard Scarry books. I have about five and I can look at them forever and ever, looking for Lowly the Worm or the little Golden Bug. Mama is a member of GoodReads, maybe you heard of it, where you can share your favorite book recommendations with your friends and learn about new exciting books from them. I wish there was a GoodReads for kids because I have quite a long list of favorites going.

who are these guys???

That's my DAD, at my age, a lot like me says Bobby and Mamop, and then next to him in the fun hat is Uncle Mike. They sure were a bunch of cuties before they turned into hardened men of the real world.
